The James Webb Space Telescope will be the largest space telescope ever when launched in December. The science goals of finding the first galaxies to form after the Big Bang, and looking for exoplanet atmospheres that might match the Earth's atmosphere are extremely challenging, and have led to the need for a telescope like Webb. I will describe how these hardware challenges have been met, and what it has taken to get the telescope ready for space.
